About the Show

Tickets start at $20!

Singer/songwriter/musician, Mark Cutler has made a living as a musician for most of his life. He is a 2015 inductee in the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame for his work with the bands The Schemers and The Raindogs as well as his solo work. The Schemers received national exposure on MTV after winning several New England music competitions. Mark’s work with The Raindogs included experimental collaborations with Iggy Pop and the actor Harry Dean Stanton. The Raindogs toured nationally with Bob Dylan, Don Henley, and Warren Zevon among others.

He spins tales about men who drink alone or hover over a lover. He sings stories about ghosts, pro wrestlers, walking in the woods, walking in the night, being remembered, just being alive and getting used to this.  Like the character Travis Bickle, Mark will “play anytime and anywhere” and sometimes he’ll show up alone with his guitar and sing for you whether you like it or not. Mark is also the director of The Same Thing Project a songwriting workshop that’s open to people of all persuasions. Marty Ballou is a highly regarded New England bassist known for his work across jazz, blues, folk, rock, pop, and Americana. Equally adept on upright and electric bass, he began his professional career in 1979 and has since become one of the region’s most sought-after “first-call” musicians.

Over the course of his career, Ballou has performed and recorded with artists and groups including The Ritz, Duke Robillard Band, Roomful of Blues, John Hammond’s Wicked Grin Band, Peter Wolf’s Midnight Travelers, The Mystix, and Bobby Keyes. He has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, Australia, South America, and beyond.

Ballou’s extensive studio work includes collaborations with artists such as Clark Terry, Jimmy Witherspoon, John Lee Hooker, Bill Harley, Jay McShann, Herb Ellis, and David Maxwell. His versatility and decades of experience have made him a respected presence on both the New England and national music scenes.

Cathy Clasper-Torch (violin/fiddle, piano, erhu, cello) is a teacher, performer and multi -instrumentalist, with a passion for improvisation and harmony. As a studio musician, Cathy’s been a guest artist on over 40 albums, as well as projects of her own, solo or in collaboration with others.

Cathy plays and collaborates with a variety of Rhode Island and New England musicians including  Atwater-Donnelly, Shelley Katsh, Kim Trusty, In Lieu of Flowers, Mary King, Ed Sweeney, Dan Lanier, Otis Read, and Saddle Up the Chicken.
