The Magician’s Elephant – May 1-3
The New Hampshire premiere of this stunning and exciting musical adaptation of NY Times best selling author Kate DiCamillo’s The Magician’s Elephant. When a fortune teller tells a boy that an elephant will lead him to his long lost sister, the boy despairs because there has never been an elephant in the town of Baltese. However, when an elephant magically crashes through the opera house roof, summoned by a visiting magician, it sets off a chain of events so impossible that it changes the town forever! Come see how Powerhouse brings an elephant onto the Colonial Theatre stage!
Shrek The Musical – August 7-9
Are you a believer?! Everyone’s favorite gassy ogre comes to the Colonial Stage for Powerhouse’s big annual multi-generational musical production. Come on an adventure through the swamp with Shrek, Donkey, Fiona and all your favorite fairy tale characters as they attempt to outwit Lord Farquuad, find true love and let their freak flags fly! Powerhouse will be collecting donations at all performances to support the Lakes Region Children’s Auction.
Peter and the Starcatcher – October 9-11
This Tony winning comedic play based on the popular book series by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson is an imaginative account of how an orphan boy becomes the famous Peter Pan. An apprentice Starcatcher named Molly must foil a plot by pirates led by the infamous Black Stache who have imprisoned her father and seek to find a magical treasure called Star Stuff. But she can’t do it alone and enlists the help of three orphan boys, one of whom is destined to become a legend.
A Christmas Carol – December 10-13
Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative is excited to once again bring this Holiday classic to Laconia. This original adaptation by NH native Joel Mercier features a bright score, some twists and turns in the plot, stunning costumes, special effects, and some frightful ghosts, all while staying true to Dickens’ original novella.
A Lakes Region holiday tradition, featuring granite state actors of all ages, this is sure to get you into the holiday spirit!
